Sinema Backs Plan To Address Asylum Backlog For Immigrants

As the Trump administration rolls out a new rule to deport some undocumented immigrants more quickly, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and eight of her senate colleagues are proposing a plan they believe will clear a backlog of asylum claims through a faster screening process.

Sinema said Arizona could be the right place for the pilot program dubbed “Operation Safe Return.”

Angela Banks is an immigration law expert from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law. The Show spoke with her more about the proposal, and what it could mean for migrant families.
