It’s football season again and another fresh start for the Arizona Cardinals in training camp with a rookie head coach and quarterback.
New coach Kliff Kingsbury brings his fast-paced "Air Raid" offense to the pros after racking up points on the college level at Texas Tech.
“I think you see more and more of the college schemes and schematics showing up in an NFL game, so hopefully with how we’re blending things together, we can put together a quality product on offense," Kingsbury said.
For that, Kingsbury will rely on top overall pick, quarterback Kyler Murray, who won the Heisman Trophy last season playing in a similar offense at Oklahoma.
Murray has only lost twice since high school and was asked how he might deal with losing as a pro.
“I haven’t really thought about losing, so I don’t really know. But, I don’t plan on it," Murray said.
Coming off a 3 and 13 record in 2018, the Cardinals fired head coach Steve Wilks after just one season and replaced him with Kingsbury.
They took Murray as the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, giving up last year's rookie QB Josh Rosen, trading him to the Miami Dolphins.
Arizona plays their first preseason game Aug. 8 at home against the Los Angeles Chargers. Their regular season opener is Sept. 8 when they host the Detroit Lions.
