Arizona lawmakers are doing well in many areas of cancer prevention, but less well in other areas.
That comes from a report released Thursday morning from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. The state earns a green ranking — within the top group of states — in areas like Medicaid eligibility, cigarette excise tax rates and smoke-free legislation, but it gets lower marks in categories including state tobacco control funding, laws banning kids from using tanning devices and pain management policies.
Alyss Patel is the Arizona grassroots manager for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. She spoke with The Show about the 17th “How Do You Measure Up?" Report, which looks at state legislative policies to reduce cancer incidence and mortality.
