AARP Arizona Wants Democratic Candidates To Discuss Retirement Security

As the 2020 Democratic candidates make their pitch to voters, one topic that's not getting a lot of attention is retirement security.

We’ve heard the Democratic candidates talk about Medicare for All, but what about retirement for all? That’s not a thing but maybe it should be especially since more than 10 million people over the age of 50 live below the poverty line, according to AARP Foundation.

Alex Juarez is with AARP Arizona.

"And unfortunately, nobody is talking about these issues. The topic of Social Security has been put on the back burner. By 2034-2035, we’re going to have issues with this. There’s only going to be about 79% of the current funding," Juarez said.

According to a Federal Reserve report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households, many adults are struggling to save for retirement.
