The parent company of APS threw water on the idea of retail competition at its second-quarter earnings call Thursday.
Pinnacle West CEO Don Brandt cited a report from Concentric Energy Advisors analyzing utility competition over the past 20 years.
“The report illustrates that states with retail competition have higher residential rates than traditionally regulated states," Brandt said.
Brandt also said he believes competition would negatively impact residential customers, despite calls from ratepayers frustrated by increases to provide choices in utility providers.
