Arizona wildfire activity remains high due to heat. Although fewer fires have burned compared to last year, the number of acres burned has doubled.
The majority of these fires have one thing in common.
“We still see human caused fires as obviously the No. 1 cause of our fires across the state. Nine out 10 wildfires across the country are started by people so, just another good reason that we need to stay proactive and not get complacent," said Tiffany Davila, Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management spokeswoman.
Humans aren’t the only ones responsible for wildfires; higher temperatures, lack of moisture and less humidity also may cause more wildfires over the next 2 weeks.
