Camp Verde Unified School District Had Its Computer Systems Hacked

Camp Verde Unified School District had its computer systems hacked several weeks ago.

Hackers got into the school’s computer system restricting staff access to files and computers.

Many public schools across the country seem to be the target for online hackers.

“They would be targeting public schools just because there is private information there that will not be protected at the level of lets say a multinational corporation or of a very secure government entity," said Stefan Swiat with the Arizona Department of Education.

Meanwhile the Camp Verde District told local media that it had to write some checks manually to its vendors. The district is continuing to recover data and upgrading the security of its system.
