Agencies say the Museum Fire is expected to cost more than $12 million to fight and to deal with the aftermath.

Agencies that fought a wildfire that burned north of Flagstaff expect it to cost more than $12 million.

The U.S. Forest Service estimates it spent about $9 million to contain the  Museum Fire.

Coconino County expects to spend about $1.4 million to get on top of potential flood mitigation — filling sandbags and installing barriers. And the Arizona Daily Sun reports the Burn Area Emergency Response team is looking at a $2 million bill.

The fire sparked on July 21 and was declared fully contained on Aug. 15.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
