Nearly 30 polling sites are open in Phoenix until 6 p.m. Monday and from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Phoenix mailed 549,128 early ballots and as of late Friday, 165,025 had been returned. On Saturday, 768 people visited a voting center, according to the Phoenix City Clerk’s Office.
Voters are being asked to decide the future of light rail: to either continue expansion from downtown into south Phoenix, west to the state Capitol and northwest to Metrocenter Mall, or end light rail extensions and instead use some of the money for other transportation projects.

The other ballot question deals with pensions and budgets. Voters will decide whether Phoenix should limit new spending until public pensions are 90% funded. Proposition supporters said Phoenix has been kicking the can down the road while opponents say the city has made changes and continues to meet its financial obligations.
