Republic Services Sued Over Contract Changes

Phoenix-based Republic Services, the second-largest waste management company in the country, is being sued by a county in New Jersey over contract renegotiation.

Camden County said it is being charged new fees by Republic Services for having contamination on its recycled materials.

The county said those fees violate its original agreement with Republic and has since elevated the dispute to a court.

In the complaint, Camden County alleges that the processing "fees" constitute a breach of contract. Republic disagrees and said it's still abiding by contract terms.

In its own legal filing, Republic said all parties involved must adapt to the "changed environment" of recycling. Camden County also requested a temporary injunction, along with compensation for applicable recycling and attorney fees.
