Wednesday begins the ninth excessive heat warning in the Phoenix area this year — and the National Weather Service is predicting this summer will wrap up the third hottest on record.
Normally, on Aug. 28, the morning low drops to 82 and climbs to 104 degrees by late afternoon. But, meteorologist Marvin Percha is forecasting temperatures 6 to 7 degrees warmer Wednesday and Thursday.
“On Thursday, we’re going to have a bit of a break, maybe temperatures falling a couple of degrees," said Percha. "But then another period of warm temperatures is expected on Friday and Saturday now."
Looking at climate models for the future, the National Weather service predicts Arizona will get warmer with drier spring and fall seasons, less snow in the north during winter, and more intense rainfall in the summer.
