The embattled owner of an East Valley utility company will get another chance to try to reclaim his water company.

The Arizona Supreme Court decided Wednesday to review George Johnson's case against the Arizona Corporation Commission and its decision to hand over operations of his company to another utility.

EPCOR took over Johnson Utilities last year after regulators found significant problems, including low water pressure and leaking sewage. About 35,000 customers rely on the utility company in Florence, Queen Creek and San Tan Valley.

In an earlier appeal, Johnson failed to convince a judge that only the court, not the commission, has the power to transfer control from one utility to another.

Since taking control, EPCOR has launched an improvement plan to ensure equipment is sufficient and meets customers' current and future needs.
