The Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking public comment on a newly released environmental impact study for a proposed 55-mile stretch of freeway.
The so called North-South Corridor would stretch from U.S. 60 in Apache Junction to I-10 in Eloy.
The proposed freeway also would pass through Coolidge, Florence and portions of Pinal County and extend State Route 24 from Ironwood Drive to the North-South Corridor.
Laura Douglas, spokesperson for ADOT, said “It’s important to note that this is a draft document and it provides the public and agencies with that opportunity to comment on the last three years of work and technical analysis the study team has done. And this is for a proposed highway. We’re equally evaluating the no-build alternative.”
There is no timeline for construction nor cost estimates for the project as a Tier 2 study will need to be funded.
People can comment online or attend one of three public meetings beginning in October.
