According to AARP, nearly 40 million Americans are unpaid caregivers. Part of the job entails running errands, like food shopping. Yet that seemingly simple task can be anything but.
A new survey by AARP found that 43% of caregivers say they don’t take their loved one shopping because it’s too difficult. The reasons vary from inconvenient hours and lack of parking to narrow aisles.
Jutta Ulrich is the executive director for the Arizona Caregiver Coalition. Her organization provides respite for caregivers.
"The respite really means that there is time, ideally for the caregiver, although many of them use it to go shopping or other things," she said.
The study found that instead of going to a brick-and-mortar store, 84% of caregivers end up shopping online.
