Arizona Community Foundation Trying To Tackle Affordable Housing Shortage, One Donation At A Time

There is a significant lack of affordable housing in the Phoenix metro area, but a new initiative is trying to tackle the problem, one donation at a time.

Starting about a month ago, homebuyers have had the option of donating $25 when they close on their houses. That money goes to the Arizona Housing Fund, which is managed by the Arizona Community Foundation.

The donated money will be used to provide more affordable housing in the Valley.

Howard Epstein founded the Arizona Housing Fund, and has worked at Bank of America for 30 years. He joined The Show to talk about the effort.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Arizona Community Foundation is a financial supporter of KJZZ.
