Why Arizona Democrats Won't Let Independents Vote In The Presidential Preference Election

The Arizona Democratic Party this weekend rejected a proposal to open the party’s presidential preference election to independent voters.

The concept had support across the political spectrum, including from Democratic Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes and Republican Gov. Doug Ducey — not to mention the 1.3 million independent Arizonans who will have to change their party registration if they want to participate.

The decision came after what Julia Shumway of the Arizona Capitol Times described as a fiery debate in Prescott.

Shumway joined The Show to tell us more about the primary debate as well as a stalled attempt by some Democrats to censure Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.
