The Arizona Humane Society is waiving its adoption fees for dogs that have been at the shelter for more than 30 days.
October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, and to celebrate, the Arizona Humane Society is hosting their first "Fall In Love" adoption special.
It’s waiving adoption fees, and dogs will be vaccinated, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered.
Bretta Nelson from the Humane Society says it hopes the event provides homes to dogs that might not get adopted otherwise.
“Psychologically, emotionally and physically pets just brighten our lives. For older people, they get them out, out on walks, meeting new people, maybe not feeling loneliness,” Nelson said.
Nelson added that two lives are saved: the dog that gets adopted and the dog who fills the kennel next.
