The Department of Child Safety has seen its fair share of controversy since it was created in 2014, from firings and high turnover of case workers, to a monumental backlog of neglect and abuse cases needing to be investigated.
Now, Gov. Doug Ducey has named Mike Faust, the current deputy director of support services for the department, as the new director of DCS.
His professional background isn’t in child welfare, it’s in aerospace manufacturing. But, as The Show heard from him, his motivations for joining the child welfare realm are personal.
