More Native Americans Now Have Health Insurance, But That's Not The Whole Story

A new report from the Government Accountability Office has some good news about the number of Native Americans with health insurance.

From 2013 to 2018, the number of people who went to Indian Health Service facilities with health insurance went up 64%, and the trend is especially true in states that expanded their Medicaid programs under Obamacare, like Arizona.

This is all well and good, but it’s not the story. Mark Trahant is the editor of Indian Country Today, and he told The Show the story is more about what’s not in this report.
