Chinese Company To Open Engineered Sand Facility In Arizona

A Chinese company will open its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Yuma.

Rechsand will develop, produce and distribute green building materials from desert sand. Right now, Rechsand has 15 plants in China where it makes pavers, diversion ditches and other products that save and store water.

The company’s head of international business, Jason Lu, said their proprietary technology will revolutionize construction, petrochemicals and agricultural industries. For example, it touts a breathable, anti-frosting material that protects plants and trees and promotes growth.

“We think Arizona is the ideal location for our first North American operation,” Lu said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to creating our world-class products right here in Arizona.”

The Yuma facility is expected to create 110 jobs. Rechsand said it has spent more than 30 years researching desert sand, which has resulted in 1,000 patents.
