While our last monsoon season was drier than most, Phoenix’s Office of Homeland Security still monitored five storms.
According to a city report, the five monsoon-related storms resulted in:
- 28,000 households and 27 city facilities that lost power
- 84 downed trees
- 16 roads closures
- 362 calls for service about traffic hazards
The National Weather Service relies on readings from Sky Harbor International Airport to determine official rainfall totals. This year’s monsoon was considered the 5th driest on record with 0.66”.
