Pima County Steps Up Resources To Investigate Sexual Assault Cold Cases

Pima County will soon have more resources to investigate unsolved sexual assault cases. They’ll also be able to provide more victim support.

A $2 million grant from the Department of Justice will be split between the Pima County Attorney’s Office, Tucson Police Department and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

New cold-case detectives will be hired and more rape kits will be tested. The money is also earmarked to add an additional prosecutor to handle special victim cases.

On top of investigating cold cases and prosecuting offenders, the county will hire two victim advocates.
