ASU and Phoenix-based Desert Financial Credit Union have secured an agreement over the naming rights to what was formally known as the Wells Fargo Arena. Originally known as the ASU Activities Center, the arena is home to ASU's men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, gymnastics and volleyball teams.
The 5-year deal will see Desert Financial invest $1.5 million each year in to the ASU system. ASU officials said as part of the deal the university will develop continuing education opportunities for members and employees of the credit union, and will work on creating more internship opportunities at the credit union for ASU students.
The announcement comes as ASU seeks to begin construction and installation on the renovation of the more than 40-year-old arena.
ASU said new signage for the Desert Financial Arena will be up by the time the college basketball season begins in early November.
