It may not be surprising to learn that young Latinx people feel less comfortable in the U.S. because of the color of their skin, and the perception that they’re somehow less American, regardless of their citizenship or how long their families have lived in this country.
But now, research has documented just how real all of that is, and how it became worse in the years of the Trump Administration.
Professor Nilda Flores-Gonzales, associate director of sociology at ASU, has been conducting research and interviews since 2006, beginning with young people in Chicago during immigrant marches.
She wrote about her conclusions in the book, " Citizens But Not Americans," and she joined The Show to share more.
