A strike by 1,800 Asarco mine union members in Arizona and Texas is entering week two. They walked out last week balking at a new contract proposal that froze pension benefits and did not include a wage increase.
Employees are picketing at four copper mine locations in Hayden, Kearny, Marana and Sahuarita as well as an an oil refinery in Amarillo, Texas.
To explain what’s going on, The Show spoke with David Wichner, business reporter for the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson.
