Nickelodeon Cartoon 'The Casagrandes' Celebrates Big, Messy Mexican-American Families

Nickelodeon’s newest show "The Casagrandes" is based in the fictional city of Great Lakes City and stars a girl named Ronnie Anne. She, along with her mom and older brother, moves in with her extended family to live above their mercado.

The result is a celebration of big, messy families and Mexican American life. In fact, it’s one of the first cartoons in the country to focus on a Mexican American family.

The show is a spin-off of "The Loud House," and it all started with an unseen side character who became more and more important as the series went on.

Miguel Puga is supervising director on "The Casagrandes," and the series draws from his upbringing in a big Latino family. The Show caught up with him to talk more about it.
