Hudbay Minerals will appeal a court ruling that banned the company from building a copper mine in Arizona, the company announced Tuesday.
Executives from Hudbay have been forming an appeal to a federal district court ruling in July. It stopped the Canadian mining company from building the $1.9 billion open-pit Rosemont Copper Mine in Arizona.
This week's vow of action from the company comes as a response to U.S. District Judge James Soto, who said on Monday that there was no basis for the court to consider an appeal.
The company says it will proceed with an appeal and will continue with steps to file alternative legal claims to the mining site so the project can proceed.
