The city of Flagstaff recently got an unwelcome surprise. Sales tax revenue for the last fiscal year came in at nearly $1 million less than expected. The shortfall was made public this month and has left city officials wondering what happened.
Whatever the reason, the consequence is that nearly half a million dollars the city doesn’t actually have was allocated in this year’s budget process. Now what happens?
