Monday on The Show, there was some news about the future of the Phoenix Police Department.
Michael Britt London is the president of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association — the union representing Phoenix police officers — and he told The Show they would not go forward with their threat of a no-confidence vote in Chief Jeri Williams.
This comes in reaction to the chief’s firings of multiple officers last week who were involved in high-profile cases, including the officer who threatened to shoot an African American family over an alleged shoplifting incident, and another officer involved in the department’s social media scandal who is accused of posting racist memes.
Viri Hernandez is executive director of the activist group Poder in Action, which called for these officers’ firings. She joined The Show on Tuesday to share her reaction to the chief’s action.
