This week marks the 20-year anniversary of Tempe Town Lake being filled, and the city is celebrating with lakeside events Friday afternoon and Saturday.
The process of creating a lake in the middle of the Phoenix metro area was a long one, with some ups and downs along the way.
Joining The Show to talk about this is Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell — whose dad, Harry Mitchell, was mayor when the city started down this road — and city Public Information Officer Kris Baxter-Ging, who worked at the Flood Control District of Maricopa County at the time.
