Kathleen Kennedy Townsend Discusses The Need For Civility In U.S. Politics

For many, civil discussion and a knowledge of civics and American history are essential to move the nation forward while preserving its traditional institutions. That, often, involves bringing sides with disparate views together, even as they disagree.

Recently, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend — daughter of Robert Kennedy and former Maryland lieutenant governor — was in the Phoenix metro area to talk about civil conversation as part of ASU’s School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership.

The Show spoke with her and asked whether civil discussion and bipartisan cooperation were still possible.
