I-17 In North Phoenix Will Close Both Direction For Pinnacle Peak Bridge Work

Don’t depend on I-17 this weekend. The interstate will be closed in both directions in north Phoenix beginning at 10 p.m. Friday.

ADOT is telling drivers to expect heavy traffic and consider alternate routes as crews remove the Pinnacle Peak Road bridge.

The bridge is being replaced by a new crossing that is expected to be ready for traffic by the end of the weekend.

I-17 will be closed in both directions from Deer Valley Road to Happy Valley Road.

ADOT says northbound drivers should exit at Rose Garden Lane then take either Deer Valley Road, 19th Avenue or Happy Valley Road. They can then use Jomax Road to get back to I-17.

Southbound drivers should exit at Jomax and take 19th Avenue to Deer Valley Road to get back on I-17.

The closure will last until 10 p.m. Sunday.
