Four Arizona lawmakers have filed the first House bill of the upcoming 2020 legislative session. The quartet of Democrats is looking to repeal a 2016 law which prohibits cities and towns from regulating short-term rentals like Airbnb.
Earlier this year, lawmakers and the governor approved a law that allows municipalities to crack down on so-called “party houses,” among some other provisions. There’s also a bipartisan legislative panel looking at whether cities and towns should be able to regulate these rental properties and to what extent.
State Rep. Aaron Lieberman (D-Paradise Valley) is one of the sponsors of the bill to repeal the 2016 law. He joined The Show to talk about the bill.
