Disability advocates and other justice groups are putting pressure on the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
They want to see changes made after one of its officers was seen wrestling a quadruple amputee to the ground in a video.
The Arizona Center for Disability Law, Ability 360 and other groups say there’s a lack of transparency and accountability in the department.
They sent a letter to the county’s board of supervisors suggesting that deputies wear body cameras and be trained in nonviolent crisis intervention.
In a previous statement, Sheriff Mark Napier said "the conduct we observed on the video at face value is shocking.”
Napier also launched a criminal investigation into the officer’s conduct and placed him on administrative leave.
