MEXICO CITY — Almost a month ago, three mothers and six children were murdered by suspected drug cartels in Sonora. Their relatives, still seeking justice, met with the Mexican president and participated in a protest against his government.
Members from the LeBarón and Langford families met with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his security cabinet on Monday. They declined to give public statements after the meeting.
Adrián LeBarón was a guest speaker during a rally against López Obrador on Sunday. He expressed frustration, while demanding justice.
"How can we unite before all of us get killed?" LeBarón asked the audience: The rally attendants dedicated a minute of silence to the deceased.
According to recent polls, President López Obrador’s popularity is still high, but concerns over the country’s security are rising among Mexicans.
