Teacher Pete Cheesebrough has been working in Coronado High School classrooms despite allegations that he had an inappropriate relationship with a student in West Virginia.
A panel that reviewed the allegations against him found that he had failed to maintain professional boundaries with the student and was insubordinate when he did stay away despite administrative warnings.
Yet, in the same month he resigned, he was hired by the Scottsdale Unified School District as a teacher.
Cheesebrough’s case further exposes loopholes in state law that have been brought to light in “A Position of Trust,” an investigative series from the Arizona Republic and KJZZ.
Republic reporter Lily Altavena, who has been continuing the series, joined The Show to talk about the case.
