Mesa officials would like to give their city a facelift — and more than 500 planners, developers and community voices have met over the past year to discuss ways to improve the aesthetics of Mesa.
Simply put, city leaders would like to see less junky, ugly buildings.
Mesa has fewer regulations dictating the appearance of buildings than any other municipality in the Valley. The city’s Design Review Board has been tasked with improving the appearance of development, and it has been relatively toothless until recently.
Mesa City Council members on Monday approved a series of regulations and ordinance changes that will help the review board develop new building guidelines intended to create a more appealing community. Those regulations will go into effect in February.
