Arizona MVD Changes To Affect How Drivers Get License Plates, Documents

The Arizona Motor Vehicle Division will be making changes at the start of the new year. This will affect how Arizona drivers get their license plates and important documents.

Starting in January, drivers will no longer be able to get their license plates, registration tabs or vehicle titles at an MVD office or third-party location. Instead, these items will be attainable only through the mail.

“If you were to go to an MVD or third-party office and pay, you would simply pay there, you would get a receipt that you renewed your registration. That receipt could be something that you would show to law enforcement if you needed to, if you happened to be pulled over, and then you would get the actual tab, or license plate, or whatever it is in the mail," MVD spokesman Doug Nick said.

Nick says payment methods will remain the same, as will the MVD’s notification system for reminding drivers about renewing their registration.
