Can art heal nations? That’s the question at the center of University of Arizona researcher Kaitlin Murphy’s work.
For it, she traveled to countries around the world — Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, South Africa and Rwanda — to study how art and artists impact the way these societies handle atrocity and come back from political violence.
It’s not the traditional approach to nation-healing. Murphy goes beyond the political and legal implications that might normally dominate the conversation. The Show spoke with her more about it.
