Entering their first season since 2011 without home-grown superstar first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, expectations for the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2019 season weren’t high.
But the team stayed in playoff contention for most of the year and were able to make a practical financial decision when they traded pitcher Zach Greinke and the more than $60 million he had left on his contract to Houston.
And the organization made a big splash earlier this week when it signed World Series-winning pitcher Madison Bumgarner, a surprise to a lot of baseball observers.
But Bumgarner says the Diamondbacks are heading in a positive direction.
