The city of Goodyear fired Police Chief Jerry Geier on Friday.

Geier was placed on administrative leave in October while he was under investigation for policy violations.

City spokesperson Tammy Vo says the decision to terminate Geier came at the conclusion of that investigation.

"Based on those findings the city determined that Geier violated some administrative policies. I should note that those violations are noncriminal and nonfinancial in nature," Vo said.

Geier will be allowed to appeal the termination. Until that appeal is finalized, the city will not release information about the allegations or investigation.

"Any more details about the original allegations or the investigations or the findings will not be available until that appeals process has concluded," Vo said.

Two other officers and one administrative employee were suspended and are also under investigation.

Acting Chief Santiago Rodriguez will remain in his role for the foreseeable future.
