Coconino County Detention Facility Allows Inmate Visitation Through Phone App

The Coconino County Detention Facility has given inmates more options to communicate with visitors. They can now connect with outside sources through an app on phones.

Sgt. Lynn Prosser works in the jail. “Instead of just being able to either come to our facility and visit from the lobby, kiosks or from home with just a computer that has the camera and microphone, they can now visit from their phones — it’s kind of almost like a Skype call," Prosser said.

Prosser said this will allow friends and family to visit with loved ones that are incarcerated from anywhere and anytime.

The county hopes people who are out of state will be able to visit with those who are incarcerated.

“Incarcerated individuals are allotted 60 minutes a week, of free weekly visitation, which is updated each Monday. They get another 60 minutes each Monday," she said.

Inmates are able to pay for more visitation time and can split their allotments into different visits.
