Some Parts Of Metro Phoenix Report More Than 2 Inches Of Rain Since Thursday

Rainfall will be tapering across the Phoenix area on Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Some parts of Maricopa County saw significant amounts of rain.

According to the Weather Service, the east part of the Valley got the most rain, with several sites reporting more than 2 inches of rain since Thursday morning.

The gauge at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport only measured 16 hundredths of an inch during that period.

During the last week, the northern part of the county got the most rain according to Maricopa County flood control gauges. The New River area was pummeled, with one gauge measuring nearly 4 inches of rain, and another near 7th Avenue and New River recording 4.25 inches of rain.

All that rain has been good for the Salt River reservoir system. The SRP website reports the six lakes on the system are at 72% capacity. Last year at this time, the system was less than half full.
