When President Donald Trump took office, he was stuck with a much smaller group of people to choose from for his cabinet. Many who might have been considered were among those considered "Never Trumpers" — while others may not have been perceived as loyal enough to Trump.
To many, the most qualified of his initial selections were from the military — Defense Secretary James Mattis, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster. All three of them have since left, after reportedly clashing with Trump on one issue or another.
In his new book "Trump and His Generals: The Cost of Chaos," Peter Bergen examines how Trump's approach and his relationships with the three Generals affected the White House and foreign policy. Bergen is a national security analyst for CNN and co-director of ASU's Center on the Future of War.
