New Year's Eve Brings A Spike In Air Pollution

It was a bit chilly Monday morning but an otherwise beautiful day. So take a deep breath while you can, because that’s expected to change.

A meteorologist with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality predicts air pollution levels will spike New Year’s Eve and will likely exceed federal air quality standards the following day.

Usually this time of year, smoke from fireplaces and fire pits create unhealthy levels of air pollution. Fireworks will add to the unhealthy mix Tuesday night.

Sandy Bahr, president of the Grand Canyon chapter of the Sierra Club, joined The Show to explain why people should be concerned about winter air pollution around New Year's.
