Pair Of Loop 101 Ramps In North Phoenix To Close As Part Of Widening Project

The roughly three-month closure of a second pair of Loop 101 ramps in north Phoenix starts Jan. 5.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says the westbound Loop 101 off-ramp and the eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 7th Avenue will close at 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Officials say crews will work to widen bridges and rebuild ramps between 7th Avenue and 7th Street, where two other ramps already have closed.

ADOT says all four ramps are scheduled to reopen in March.

Officials say the traffic restrictions are part of a $185 million effort to add lanes and make upgrades to 13 miles of the Loop 101 between Interstate 17 and Pima Road. The entire project is scheduled to be done in early 2021.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The story has been updated to reflect a new closure time.
