Trying To Even Out the 'Mullet Economy'

A few years ago, Yancey Strickler was walking through the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where he lived.

Strickler, a co-founder and former CEO of the crowdfunding site Kickstarter, had noticed the neighborhood was changing.

But on this day, he realized a popular old dive bar had closed down, and was being replaced by a bank branch.

There were, he noted, already three other branches of that same bank within a 15-minute walk.

And that got him thinking about why his neighborhood was changing and what that might mean. Those thoughts led to his new book, called "This Could be Our Future: A Manifesto for a More Generous World."
