Last year, California became the first state in the country to enact a law requiring publicly traded companies to include women on their boards of directors.
Since then, the state has been sued twice over the law, most recently in November, by the group Pacific Legal Foundation.
The foundation is also trying to stop similar laws in other states where they’ve been introduced, including Washington and Illinois.
Meanwhile, there are other efforts to get more women on corporate boards, as well.
Kathleen Duffy is part of one of them. She’s president and CEO of Phoenix-based Duffy Group, a recruitment firm. Duffy also served as co-chair of the Women on Boards event in Phoenix late last year.
Duffy joined The Show to explain where we are now in terms of the gender pay gap and having women in high-ranking positions — especially relative to where we’ve been over the past few years.
