They say that one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. In the case of one unclaimed lottery ticket, that’ll be the case for future Arizona Lottery winners.
Arizona Lottery officials announced Tuesday that they'll use an extra $14.6 million, made available after a winning ticket went unclaimed in December, to double prizes for other lottery winnings.
Smaller, non-jackpot prizes available through a game called The Pick will be doubled for tickets purchased between Jan. 15 and Feb. 15.
That means $3 prizes double to $6, and $50 become $100. Even $2,000 prizes will double to $4,000.
The rest of the unclaimed winnings will help fund programs for abused children and for Native American education efforts.
