A day after Paul Petersen resigned the job of Maricopa County assessor, the Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to accept his resignation today. The board’s vote means it will not issue an opinion about the decision to initially uphold Petersen’s suspension.
"Then that is moot and Mr. Chair, I don’t believe that this board needs to submit a written opinion about sustaining this suspension," Supervisor Bill Gates said at today's meeting.
As for Petersen’s replacement, a spokesperson says the board will determine that process at a later date.
At that same meeting, the board also elected its new chairman. Clint Hickman was chosen during the Passing of the Gavel ceremony.
